The
Space & Spatial National Industry Group (NIG) of the
Australia India Chamber of Commerce (AICC) was officially launched today, ahead of the
17th Australian Space Forum in Adelaide.
AICC Executive Chair, Mr Chris Mooney, welcomed guests which included a large Indian delegation, led by Dr Vinod Kumar, Head of Indian Director of Promotion InSpace. Dr Kumar gave a brief overview of InSpace and its activities and stressed the importance of commercial outcomes of the Australia-India collaboration.
Other guest speakers included Mr Enrico Palermo, Head of the Australian Space Agency, who gave a brief overview of the Australia-India relationship with respect to cooperation with each country's space programs, Prof Andy Koronios, CEO of SmartSat CRC who stressed the importance of utilising the Australia India Chamber of Commerce platform for collaboration with Australia and India, with respect to both business and research, as well as Ms Lisa Vitaris, Interim CEO of the Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) and Director of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC). Ms Vitaris welcomed the activities of the Space & Spatial NIUG and its collaborative approach.
Co-convenors of the AICC Space & Spatial National Industry Group, Ram Kuppusamy and Prof. Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse, wrapped up the event by leading a round table discussion which concluded with the announcement of the AICC’s MoU with Satcom and the Geospatial World Chamber of Commerce.
The event was attended by entrepreneurs, business leaders and government representatives from both Australia and India, and hosted by AICC member, Piper Alderman.
